Inpatient Treatment Services

      A New Awakening of The San Joaquin's (ANA) Day Treatment Program is similar to the Residential Inpatient Program with the exception of requiring 24 hour monitoring by treatment staff.  The Day Treatment level is considered appropriate after a client is assessed as capable of adequately managing her/his addiction and relapse prevention independently between treatment sessions.  Usually a step-down from the Residential level of treatment, the  Day Treatment program is an opportunity to evaluate the effectiveness of the client's trigger management and relapse prevention plan in her/his personal environment while integrating newly learned skills into a busy life schedule with less intrusion to their work, school, and/or family obligations.

    Day Treatment consists of group therapy, educational sessions, and family Therapy Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Therapy sessions will be facilitated by the Senior Therapist and educational sessions by a Chemical Dependency Counselor.

    Day Treatment is for those participants that present with the following Condition(s):

• Intoxication/Withdrawal Potential – The participant does not manifest signs or symptoms of life-threatening withdrawal requiring acute detoxification.
• The participant is unable to maintain abstinence without a structured environment during a portion of the day and requires professional counseling and other rehabilitation services.
• Biomedical Conditions – None or not sufficient to distract from treatment. Such problems are manageable.
• Emotional/Behavioral/Cognitive – Mild to moderate severity, with the potential to distract from recovery; the participant needs stabilization. 
• Readiness to Change – The participant has poor engagement in treatment, significant ambivalence, or lack of awareness of the substance use or mental health problem, requiring a near-daily structured program or intensive engagement services to promote progress through the stages of change.

     Intensive Outpatient Treatment (IOP) sessions are offered Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Therapy sessions will be facilitated by a duly licensed therapist.

     The IOP Treatment level is considered appropriate after a client is assessed as capable of adequately managing her/his addiction and relapse prevention independently from the treatment environment and is not dependent on the treatment environment to manage ongoing conditions.  Usually a step-down from the Day Treatment level, the  IOP Treatment program is an opportunity for the client to demonstrate the effectiveness of her/his advanced self-management and relapse prevention skills in her/his personal environment while integrating newly learned skills into a busy life schedule with little intrusion to their work, school, and/or family obligations. 

     IOP treatment consists of group therapy, educational sessions, and family Therapy Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Therapy sessions will be facilitated by the Senior Therapist and educational sessions by a Chemical Dependency Counselor.

IOP Treatment is for those participants that present the following condition(s):

• Intoxication Withdrawal Potential – is a minimal risk of severe withdrawal.
• Biomedical Conditions – None or not sufficient to distract from treatment. Such problems are manageable.
• Emotional Behavioral/Cognitive – Mild severity with low potential to distract from recovery; the participant needs monitoring.
• Readiness to Change – the participant has variable engagement in treatment, ambivalence, or lack of awareness of the substance use or mental health problem and requires a structured program several times a week to promote progress through the stages of change.
• Relapse/Continued use or Continued Problem Potential – Intensification of the participant's addiction or mental health symptoms indicate a high likelihood of relapse or continued use or continued problems without close monitoring and support several times a week.
• Recovery Environment – The participant's recovery environment is not supportive but, with structure and support, the participant can cope.

     Aftercare services are provided free of charge to any participant completing primary treatment and will meet once a week for one year. The objective is to monitor the participant's progress in their recovery plan and to identify problems needing further intervention to prevent relapse. Aftercare is not an appropriate substitute for a primary treatment program following detoxification.
